We have had an exciting couple of weeks around here!

David and I celebrated our 18th anniversary and David turned 44! Lots of excuses for good meals and candy! :-)

Connor's JV team finished off their season with a win over Sprague! We lost badly the first time we played them and so it was awesome to beat them the second go around. Connor had 12 points for the game and was the high score again. He wound up a great JV season and one of the starters and high scorers (is that a word)... We are really proud of him and how he stepped it up and became a leader on the team.

Earlier in the week our varsity team beat McNary to clinch a playoff spot. (I hope I got the team right because if I didn't I will never hear the end of it! :-)) Connor sat the bench for most every varsity game and Thursday night was given the nod to continue to practice with the varsity for the playoffs. Our first game is Wednesday 3/3 at Wilson High School in Portland.

Connor received an invitation to the Baseball Northwest Prospect Games at the end of June. If he does well at that he will get to play in the NW Championship as in previous years. It would be very exciting for him to continue on to the Championship because this is the year that the scouts really start to take notice of the kids...........

Megan is good - not much new and exciting for her. She is working very hard on her softball pitching and has been spending extra time batting - really gearing up for her season. She continues to do awesome in school! Saturday's are our favorite day because we always make a trip to the library. I love that she likes to read up on all kinds of different topics and that she loves to read!! She is such a good girl and growing up to be an awesome person!!

I am working 50 plus hours a week. It's been crazy but I am hangin' in there. Our receptionist quit this week so I am now doing her job and mine. I have lots of help from my co-workers but they have their own jobs to do.......so right now I just move from "fire to fire" and have not been very successful at getting my own desk clean! Thank goodness I have two desks now, so to speak!

The weather this weekend has been amazing! David and Connor have spent several hours this weekend outside working on baseball skills. Connor hasn't been able to attend any practices yet but the varsity coach assures him that they are saving his spot. Looks like he will be starting Short for Varsity. No confirmation yet but that's what the coach has alluded to!

Have a great week everyone!!

Is it Baseball (Softball) season yet?

It has been a fairly nice winter here in the High Desert - actually kinda warm on some days. We did have a little snow last Saturday but nothing that didn't disappear quickly. I love living here - we have a little bit of sunshine almost every day. Granted it can be shining bright and within the next hour snowing (just ask May and Ronnie) - at least it keeps us on our toes. There was one day last week that made me positively feel like it was baseball weather! I am so ready to get out my blankie, my new umbrella, my new long johns and my gloves with the built in spot for hand warmers!! :-)

Megan has had a pretty good last couple of weeks. She did have to get her last vaccine and got a little sick after. She had a sore throat and cold going into the weekend and I don't think the shot helped her along. She was sick on Superbowl Sunday with a fever and stayed home Monday. She was back in school on Tuesday and feeling good. She and David went up to Seattle this weekend for Chinese New Year. I know she was anxious to see all our family and play with her baby cousins. She is so good with the little kids and they follow her around like the Pied Piper. She continues to do awesome in school - I am so proud of her and how hard she works!!

Connor is doing good. He was struggling a little with his basketball but seems to have turned it around. As one of his coaches put it - "your back..." His last game he scored 17 points!! It was really nice to see him playing like his usual self and not struggling like the past couple of games. He has still been sitting up on the Varsity bench and getting a few minutes of playing time here and there. He admitted that he needs to keep his focus on basketball but the siren call of baseball is awfully tempting! He has done a few pitching lessons with Scott Anderson at the Field House and did a batting clinic with Jeff McKay of BBNW.  Connor has had a couple of tests and done really well.  He is esp. good at math and languages - unlike his dear old mom.  I am sure the whole math thing comes from David!!

We are excited that David's sister Kim has begun the adoption process in Kazakhstan. She has met the little guy who is going to be her son. All we are waiting for is her court date - next Wednesday. Please send good thoughts and prayers her way that everything goes smoothly and that a sweet little nine month old boy in Kaz will become our nephew!!

Work has been crazy busy. I am expected to work at least 50 hours a week and that's been a bit of a struggle. It's not much fun but I am managing to only have to work a short day on Sat. so I still have quite a bit of my weekend. We are swamped but that's a good thing!!
